Yoga in Vancouver

Work in progress.

Vancouver must be one of the best cities for yoga. Here are my favorite places and classes to attend:

YYoga
http://www.yyoga.ca/
With 3 studios in Vancouver, and more across the Lower Mainland, they have classes going on every day. They offer everything from YHot to Hatha to Flow to Power and Yin. They even have a YRide class for cyclists, and a Pilates class for yogis working on strengthening their core. I’m doing my 30 day challenge here, and I love the community feel of the studios, particularly the South Granville location. During the month of August they are offering free classes at the top of Grouse Mountain!

One Yoga for the People

A downtown studio bursting with character. Exposed brick and a beautiful layout makes this studio one of my favorite to practice in. They are very laid back (you punch your own card!) and have a reasonably priced drop in ($12).
Practice Courage.
Grow Roots.
Get High.
Truth Is.
We are One.

UBC Yoga Club

A great option for students on campus! They have a ton of different classes each day held in the Student Union Building. It’s only $7 for a membership, and $2 for each class you attend. Free mat service, just bring a student ID! During the summer they are offering classes at Wreck Beach for only $2. So awesome.

Bikrams Yoga

If you have ever tried yoga and thought it was ‘boring’ or too tame, try Bikrams. Sweat it out in a 42C, high humidity room with a teacher yelling inspiration in your face. Not your typical yoga. Bikram’s 26 pose sequence has been created to give you the best health benefits. Your first class is free too, just check out the website to get your free pass.
